The educational and welfare centre for children with cerebral palsy was first and foremost a challenge in creating a space of great comfort for these children, a place in which they will spend many hours of their lives, having as a first the warmth of spaces, materials and light as a transcendent element of design.
The land is framed by a public park of great beauty, being, thanks to its varied vegetation a small forest on the outskirts of Vilagarcía de Arousa.
For this reason, a transparent element was thought of to serve as a light and guide for the lives of the building’s users and especially for children with cerebral palsy.
This is how a container is projected and conceptualised that will house all the activities that the centre will carry out, but this being a container full of light, a light box, glazed, capable of absorbing the light from the outside during the day and radiating its own light at night.
The resulting volume is an aesthetically comfortable element due to the textures and colours of its materials. The same happens with the interior, where wood will be the predominant constructive element.
