Project: “Centro Comercial Pereiro de Aguiar”
Ubication: Pereiro de Aguiar – Ourense
Year: 2002
In collaboration with Jose Antonio Vázquez
Description:
The project aims to define a building that houses several uses; on the one hand, an area for a shop, another for a restaurant-cafeteria and, finally, a dwelling.
The interior distribution responds to the traditional interior compartmentation in this type of buildings in which the ground floor was used for commerce and tavern, while the dwelling was located on the first floor.
The main idea is that of a pure and abstract geometry. To this end, the side walls act as containers, including the large glass panels, thus reinforcing the idea of a seamless encounter between the interior space and the natural environment. Offering unity to the whole even though the interiors are independent.
The architectural expression is that of a prismatic volume with a neutral skin, an abstract box that houses such a diverse programme, in a subtle play of transparencies and opacities, of dentres and fueras, in which geometric cleanliness predominates.
